Just after I finished my blog yesterday, I was asked by a young lady if I would like to come over for some wine. Those who know me know that I say no to wine, but contrary to my usual evening habits, I was in the mood for company. Camper activity Consuming alcohol. Then I spent the evening with Günther from Herne, 65 years old, Juan-Luis, 50 years old, who comes from Mexico, and Heleen, 22 from Holland. All touring cyclists. The 3 of them drank 2 bottles and the evening was entertaining. In the course of the evening I arranged with Heleen, again against my habit, to ride together tomorrow. The same way. The next morning we set off. The young lady set a very fast pace, she wanted to do as many kilometres as possible before the heat, I was rather lame and asked for the first break after 25 km (also because I didn't have any coffee yet and a bumblebee had bitten/stung me in the knee), after that I was fine. On the way we picked cherries, then lunch in the shade, it was really hot, then I had a defect in the back, I think the first since Orosei in Sardinia, so 3 - 4k kilometres. After that, I continued to wash up the remaining kilometres at a campsite in Dietfurt. Heleen does about 70 km every day and is on her way to Budapest for a Volenteer (NGO supporting homeless people). Respect! At that age, great! And me? Well, the campsite didn't open until 3 pm and it was shortly after 1 pm. So? Heleen had mher swimsuit in her bag and I couldn't look fast enough, she was already changed and splashing around in the water. I eventually followed and was happy to sit on the stones in the canal, up to my neck in the water. After a while I also started to think that I had enough for today and considered staying. Headpingpong...... at some point I came to the conclusion that I did want to continue, especially as otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do the Altmühltal (yes I have appointments), wouldn't have done enough kilometres (normally I do about 60km at home to stay slim) and besides, yesterday my mp3 player gave me "ziltoid live at the royal albert hall" a 2h40min piece by Devin Townsend project and I really wanted to listen to that again. And what can I say? I could have had a nice evening in Dietfurt, but driving on was the right decision. What a landscape (I'll put the video online as soon as I have wifi) and this music..... awesome!!!!!! (Thanks Lars!) If I would make music, then something like this! I rode through this beautiful valley to "March of the Poozers" and other delicacies, and sometimes I almost fell out of the saddle laughing, just to take a photo of the landscape. This music! I'm also sitting on the Danube in Kehlheim right now, in a wonderful beer garden, with Obazden and listening to it, I'll call it a "musical" :D 😀 again. And I stayed at a farmer's campsite, unbeatable value for money! So with that in mind! Good night!
