And 1500 meters of altitude. Instead of packing my bags in the morning and getting on my bike, I took the S-Bahn to the old town. Then on foot up to the castle and further to the Himmelsleiter. 270 meters in altitude to 680 meters my second favorite endurance sport stair climbing. Actually, the sky ladder could be meanwhile gladly longer, I was already a bit disappointed when I was at the top. It had started to rain again, as it had all night, so I decided against the descent via slippery stairs but went to the train. The young lady at the counter said that the next mountain train would leave in 30 minutes. Since no view, due to the fog was possible, I'm in forest and made a few pictures. Of the forest in the fog, classic. After the time expired I got a private ride downhill from the young mountain railway driver, what a great job. I was the only guest and we got to talking. The railroad is closed due to tunnel renovation probably soon half a year, so now is still opportunity, or you wait until the railroad is closed and then come, without all the foot lazy, the castle will probably have as many visitors as in the rain. After leaving I still went to the old town, then back to the hotel and pack. At shortly before 12 o'clock I came off, quite late. And what did I do first? Use the good weather and again high on the Königsstuhl, with luggage. The route over the castle was my favorite route a few years ago. Also yesterday, simply wonderful. There are two places that are pretty hard, because the sweat ran in streams. At the top was finally good view because the fog had cleared and hardly any people on the viewing platform, time for photos. Then I drove over the forest down to the Wolfsbrunnen to make me another time to the climb over the forest. About the Felsenmeer. The city forest Heidelberg is really very beautiful. When I was then the third time up it was already raining again slightly. So downhill, down over the castle and to the other side of the Neckar. Actually, I wanted to Dossenheim, but was probably still wistfully reminiscing and took my former way home and was already half in Mannheim when I noticed that I was not driving as I wanted. So I turned off and had to take one of the worst paths towards Dossenheim, it also began to drip again slightly. At some point I was standing at the driveway to the white stone and above me the sky was dark, my thighs hurt and it was 3 o'clock. Somehow the unwillingness grabbed me, I looked into the Bahnapp and saw a good connection to home via Weinheim. Regretfully, I discarded the climb to the white stone and started moving towards Weinheim. 5 minutes later I was soaked to the underpants, it was the right decision. The train I got, change in Darmstadt was briefly stressful, track change with Vollgepacktem wheel and 5 minutes time is annoying, but worked. Hardly I was in the Rhine Valley bright sunshine. I briefly considered whether I should still hang a day, looking out the window this morning I'm glad not to have done it, it rains from streams. Meanwhile I have washed everything, rainwear impregnated again and stowed everything. Now I have to pack, next week begins a new adventure, back to research, on to a new city. This leaves me with one wackenticket left, I was so looking forward to it, can't do anything about it. Hope the ticket I still get rid of, but does not look so good. Maybe I'll just go for 1 day to the festival. For Iron Maiden, well, the normal ticket costs as much as the complete festival ticket. Look at me, maybe I can get rid of it. Otherwise it will probably take a while until I can be on the road again, but that's not so bad, I'm finally doing something again that doesn't feel like work, and I'll definitely write a post now and then, in this sense.
