somehow I had a movie title in my head all day, "One night in Paris". Quite a great movie I thought, romantic comedy. Googled it then, last night. Not a romantic comedy, my memory played a trick on me. And I complain about my little head cinema, which is unfortunately still not completely off, others have to endure quite different and still make something out of it. Anyway, how was it yesterday? So it went early, first suggested to me the Interrailapp a connection, with twice change and then each 10 minutes transfer time. With the Deutsche Bahn, no we do not. So other connection, one change, with about 90 minutes stay in Mannheim, better! The conducter in the ICE helped me still kindly with the Interrailapp, you still have to "focus". One thing you have to let the deutsche Bahn, the staff is mostly very stress-resistant and helpful. One matures probably with the whole problems, as for example the fire alarm system in the station-standing train, which suddenly went on. Someone must have been smoking too close to the door. Again a new reason for a delay message. Nevertheless, almost on time arrived in Mannheim and I was allowed to spend a few minutes in the square city. Dopio in the Tans (hint: if someone is in Mannheim, bread boutique Tans), chat, walk..... It struck me that my luggage is not the lightest, so after an hour the backpack on the shoulders. Good so, full body workout. Then back to the station, only to learn that my train to Paris has...... Clear delay. Deutsche Bahn, strikes back. Finally on the crowded train, book out, and off we went. My God, I have not taken a normal book for a long time and read, that was nice, I missed. A very short period later, half book through, I was then already in Paris. Tada, out and straight into the Metro. It's good if you've been in a city a few times, you don't have to find your way around. Line 4 to Cite, out and Norte Dame, is still standing. Looks somehow better than a few years ago, but is not yet completely renovated. Then along the Seine towards the hotel, havenear booked a room close to the Gare de Lyon, where it goes on today. Luggage deposited and out again, metro again, line 1, to the Arc-de-Triomphe. Huge queue at the ticket office, well I was already up there, so continue, do not have so much time. Out and the Champs-élysées direction Louvre. In the distance I saw the Eiffel Tower, I've never been up there, good idea I thought and was already heading for it. "Good idea", I also always think with Ferris wheels, until I sit in it and have driven up, then it is no longer a good idea, the height. So the decision also quickly wavered and I steered further down the boulevard. Years ago I did that once with colleagues, after 2 days of hollow talk, after a project meeting at the University of Paris we still had a short time. Such a meeting with a lot of self-congratulation and empty phrases, a really bad one, one with "we could do that, we should do that, blah blah" and you know that if you don't do it, nobody will do it anyway. Speech bubble producers! Entropic thermoelectrics, with fast electrons, what a bullshit. So back then with luggage, I chased them up the boulevard. Oh delightful, as much as they babble, so bad they are with the condition. I saw them with every breath the agony at and had with every Jap my pleasure for the two stolen days of life. I had to think about that yesterday. Delightfully, I was amused. Then it became increasingly dark. And I slowly made my way back to the hotel. What to eat I still needed but wanted in no restaurant. So supermarket and there I was in bicycle travel shopping mode. Reminded me fortunately still in, what do I want in winter with 8 bananas and 6000 more calories? Tsss. At some point I was then in the hotel, and much satisfied, full and tired in bed. In this sense, it goes on. Merry Christmas!
