Week 23

Better! Not yet good, or as before, but better than 4 weeks ago. Meanwhile, 2 days after extensive cycling, my throat no longer feels as if I had been smoking along 2 packs of cigarettes, drinking a case of beer, and bawling 3 Manowar concerts the night before, but just a bit slimy. Seems like one of the many medications I've been on seems to be helping. Possibly also the combination for several of the age related* ailments, who knows? (*life related) I don't care, as long as progress is felt, even my resting pulse is back to about 40 beats per minute and no longer over 50. Meanwhile, of course, I get bumblebees in my butt again and, impatient as I am, want to get going again. At least for half day trips it is enough in the meantime. At least for a few days I want to go soon again, I plan / dream. But how else do you kill your time? Well, on my "100-(10)-things-I-would-like-to-do-before-I-die"-to-do-list there are still a few unfinished stories. Time to tackle those! More soon! Other than that? Unhappily, of course, by doing nothing and continuing to eat well, I've gained a few pounds (ahem kilograms). One look at the scale said 92 kg, oops. Didn't I have 78 kg this year? How can you gain that much in one month? Simple!!! Eating 5000 kcal a day and not burning any extra! But, just because you walked a few meters too far towards the abyss, no reason to continue with it. So stop in and put the jack on a diet. Old axiom from quitting smoking (one of my toughest battles I've fought in life, 2 long years): "Just because you lit another cigarette after 2 weeks doesn't mean you've quitted "quit-smoking"." It's the same with being overweight, a lesson I had to learn painfully as a "former" overweight person (120 kg). Just because you lost weight once you are not slim forever. No! Losing weight is not the problem, keeping weight off is the real problem. Personally, I have resigned myself to a yo-yo life and it settled well the last few years. Especially in combination with weight training is the whole thing anyway. In calorie deficit you don't build up muscle mass (although there are people who claim the opposite. "Fake-news"!). And in calorie surplus you do not define muscles. Thus, a certain "yoyo" is pre-programmed there: Mass phase, diet, repeat. Thus I am now again on 1500 kcal per day. (P.S.: Calorie counting is the most effective method to lose weight! No matter which diet you do!) What is quite sad when you come from 1500 kcal per meal. Quite bad is the day the week with only 500 kcal. Well well, the first 2 weeks are always a bit hard, the body and mind crave sugar, simple sugar. Well, but we know the addiction problem from smoking, just don't feed after the 2 weeks again. And since I can move better again and ride my bike more, the overweight should soon be a thing of the past. Since I also have a lot to do (and great cycling weather is), that's it for this week. In this sense, greetings.
